Spring 2019 | Woven leathers
In 2019, Cupcakes and Cashmere launched their first footwear collection.
With woven leathers being a strong trend, and a material detail that Emily Schuman felt was on brand, we collaborated on creating dress/casual footwear that utilized woven materials. Our goal was to create silhouettes that could be worn with ripped jeans, or a pretty floral dress. We explored flats, platforms, sandals of various heights, and closed toe constructions from block heels to pumps, and booties.
The final product that made it to Shopbop, Zappos, and Nordstrom consisted of a flat, open toe high heel sandal, wedge, and block heel closed toe.
The closed toe block heel was the best-selling style, and was re-ordered several times, and carried over into the summer collection.
