How I'm getting into the holiday spirit during a pandemic

The year 2020 has been a doozy. I’m looking forward to the year being over . Looks like part of 2021 will be more of the same, but let’s not think about that just yet.

With many places being shut down in Los Angeles, not seeing my family, and just trying to stay home more to stop the spread, getting into the holidays has been a challenge.

To be honest, starting my paper goods business with my first collection being holiday themed has been keeping my spirits up in general. It’s fun to see what cards and paper people are relating to, and the messages I’m getting about the product is making me feel good.

Here are five things I’m doing to keep me from falling off the edge during this pandemic ridden holiday season:

  1. Decorating- I missed the boat on getting a Christmas tree this year. However, flowers, and Poinsettias are in place.I would like to get some candles that smell cozy. I’ve been considering this one.

  2. Holiday cards - I always do this anyways, but this year I’ve felt overwhelmed. Earlier this week I sent holiday cards to my colleagues from my collection, and will be watercoloring cards to my family. Giving something special always soothes the soul for me.

  3. A cozy holiday read & movie - Hallmark channel has been on full blast at home lately. My favorite so far has been the The Christmas Ring, and A Shoe Addicts Christmas. Reading is not something I’ve done much this year. I’m looking for a few easy reads. Right now, I’m considering this and this. I also want to re-read this one. A short story compilation of romance and pastries by none other my sister, Cindy Arora.

  4. Holiday baking - I’ve been seeing a lot of fun holiday recipes online, and I so want to try a few. In the beginning of the pandemic, I baked a few things. Some were good, and some were total fail. I stopped cause I was seeing the cakes rise on my body. So, I needed to give it a rest. However, here I’d love to try this gingerbread cookie recipe, and this looks super easy.

  5. Cocktailing while wrapping gifts - As I talked about in my blog post here, gift giving, and card giving are big in my family. We were not the most vocal beings to each other. We showed our love thru letters, gifts, and most importantly gifts that had meaning. So everything from a card, and the wrapping was well appreciated in our family.

I’ll definitely be wrapping my gifts this year with my Naughty and Nice wrapping paper, and Spiked heel paper which will not only look lovely under a tree but will put a smile in a face which love to do. While I’m wrapping gifts, I’ll be checking out this mistletoe toe moscow mule cocktail and who doesn’t love a spiked egg nog here.
